10
Amazing Years...
Countless
Volunteer Hours...
$1,700,000
Raised Toward A Cure...
Thank
you to all who have made the Lightning Run®
possible for the past 10 years our volunteers, our
sponsors, our participants and, of course, our co-presenters
the St. Paul Police Department and the St. Paul Chapter
of HOG®.
Some
volunteers and sponsors have held major roles for all 10 years,
some for less. All have been invaluable. It takes hundreds
of volunteer hours each year to make the Lightning Run happen.
There simply are no words to express the gratitude we hold
for all who have given their time, products, media support
and/or money toward this cause. While we still believe wholeheartedly
in Drs. David Sutherland and Bernhard Hering of the Schulze
Diabetes Institute, we have decided to take a break from
this event. The economic downturn has taken a toll on
all of us. We need to step back and reassess our fundraising
plans for the immediate future.
In
the past 10 years, we have seen some remarkable progress toward
curing diabetes thanks to the research being conducted by
the Schulze Diabetes Institute at the University of Minnesota.
We strongly urge all of you to continue to follow this ground
breaking research at www.diabetes.umn.edu
and to consider this tremendously worthwhile cause when making
personal charitable decisions. Lives have been drastically
changed for the better by the work being done at the SDI.
As
many of you know, diabetes impacts our lives personally as
well as those of many of our employees, friends, volunteers
and business associates. The consequences of diabetes are
alarming and we believe the cure will be spearheaded
by the doctors and researchers at the Schulze Diabetes Institute.
Thank
you again for your past support. We look forward to riding
with you always and to planning a ride in support of the Schulze
Diabetes Institute again
in the future.
Sincerely,
Tom
